Sure, the beer business can be lucrative: There's plenty of bread in beer.

But Funky Buddha Brewery and Whole Foods Market want to put beer in bread.

The two companies announced that Whole Foods will use the spent grain -- malted barley and wheat -- that Funky Buddha uses to brew its popular Floridian Hefeweizen in a bread that will be available Wednesday at its 24 Florida stores.

The bread, which will sell for $4 for the first two weeks and $5.50 going forward, will be sourdough style, crusty on the outside, chewy on the inside, with an acid to complement the citrus notes of Floridian, which has become one of Whole Foods' best-selling local beers, Funky Buddha spokesman John Linn said.
