Nano-Nano is a collaboration of small breweries and large minds. Dogfish Head arose from humble beginnings when Sam started brewing 10-gallon batches on his Sabco Brew Magic System at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth Beach, Del., back in '95. Similarly, Funky Buddha, originating out of Boca Raton, Fla., has outgrown their original 1-barrel system and has upgraded to a new 30-barrel system to feed the demand for more beer. While both breweries continue to strive for healthy growth, we still operate our small nano systems to experiment and test out new recipes for smaller audiences.
With that in mind, Dogfish Head and Funky Buddha set out to brew a beer celebrating small, hand-crafted exotic beers on Dogfish Head's current two-barrel Sabco Nano-Magic system at Dogfish Head's original location. The result is a sultry Chocolate Sea Salt Porter, with a dose of grilled fresh habanero. With huge notes of cocoa in the nose, Nano-Nano is choc-full of bittersweet chocolate from generous amounts of Askinosie Cocoa nibs. Sea salt, harvested from both the Delaware and Florida coasts, was then added to balance the chocolate and really make the flavors pop. Grilled habanero adds a nice kiss of lingering heat.
