Warehouse Manager

The Funky Buddha Brewery is currently seeking a full-time Warehouse Manager!

Position Summary

The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for managing the day to day operation of production and distribution warehouse facilities to ensure metrics are maintained or exceeded to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction. This position will collaborate with Head Brewer, General Manager, Brewery Operations Manager, Brand Director, and Master Planner to ensure our product meets market demand and scheduling timetables.

Responsibilities

Warehouse

  • Manage all warehouse activities ensuring operational goals are achieved by determined deadlines.
  • Effectively manage warehouse employees, focusing on retention and skill development.
  • Process orders accurately and in a timely manner according to SOPs and customer requirements.

Planning

  • Collaborate on master production scheduling and planning to ensure production, packaging and shipments meet business requirements.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel to generate and maintain master production plans to ensure long-term production schedules in ERP match sales projections.
  • Work closely with production teams to assist in development of weekly production schedules that balance production line capacity, productivity, and on-time delivery metrics.
  • Collaborate with Procurement on long term production plans, taking into consideration supplier capabilities and constraints.
  • Track, develop, and implement the appropriate finished goods safety stock strategy to optimize service levels and inventory investment.

Logistics

  • Schedule dock appointments for Inbound/Outbound/Interplant shipments at breweries. Track performance against appointments and report results
  • Procure freight and other services for the company, securing best available rates while staying within shipment requirements
  • Demonstrate smart ordering practices, demonstrating fiscal responsibility with considerations such as freight and quantity discounts
  • Responsible for receiving shipments, including product and equipment returns, raw ingredient and packaging shipments, and any other large shipments

Inventory

  • Establish operational procedures for all warehouse activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current
  • Manage site inventory control processes; ensuring compliance with internal SOPs and best practices
  • Work with production team to ensure proper warehouse organization, including picking and building orders, organizing the cold box to accommodate packaging operations, receiving and storing raw materials, etc.

Communication

  • Interface with Purchasing, Production, Sales, Marketing, and Quality to capacity plan around maintenance, promos, new product introductions, and inform of other potential schedule interruptions.
  • Work with sales team to ensure all wholesaler orders are placed in a timely manner and provide updates relating to aging beer in warehouse to avoid expired and obsolete items

Maintenance

  • Supervise material handling equipment for forklifts, shrink wrappers, scale, loading docks, HVAC, restaurant equipment, and any additional equipment
  • Oversee and direct all building preventative maintenance for bottling line, kitchen and brewery equipment

Other

  • Enter sales orders into ERP system pursuant to master production schedule.
  • Facilitate and/or conduct all required employee training; including forklift and safety certification programs.
  • Promote a “Zero Harm” work environment through adherence to OSHA, DOT HAZMAT and HACCP regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Serve as point person for projects relating to warehouse modification (warehouse upgrades, constructions, remodeling, etc.)
  • Completion of special projects as assigned by management.
  • Facilitate and/or conduct site tours for management, employees and customers.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in staff training opportunities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years brewery production line experience preferred.
  • Minimum of two years managerial experience required
  • Direct warehouse management experience, including demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and mentor employees.
  • Knowledge of and experience ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT HAZMAT and HACCP regulations.
  • Experience utilizing cycle count methodologies and performing full physical inventory counts.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage production and distribution warehouse facilities.
  • Material Handling experience.
  • Proven ability to operate within budget guidelines.
  • Experience facilitating effective employee training.
  • Capacity to embrace and lead change in a constantly fluctuating business environment is essential.
  • Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment, plus ability to exercise solid judgement and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate both verbal & written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Must be forklift certified and able to operate forklift and other equipment as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Four year college degree preferred.
  • Warehouse Management System and/or Inventory Control software experience is preferred.
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP experience is preferred.
  • Ability to comfortably lift and carry up to 55/lbs.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work off hours, split, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts as required
  • Critical and analytical thinking skills and the ability to make high-level decisions based on available facts, brewing knowledge, and experience
  • Knowledge of brewing industry standards and trends

Street Team Squad (Jacksonville)

Funky Buddha Brewery, located in Oakland Park, Florida, is seeking a part-time on-call Street Team Squad Member to join its growing team in the Jacksonville area. Established in 2010 at its Boca Raton brewpub, Funky Buddha is known for pushing the boundaries of traditional brewing methods with culinary-inspired recipes utilizing all-natural, food-centric ingredients. Street Teamers are tasked with helping to set-up, execute and break down beer samplings, activations, and festivals.   • Work with our events manager to create compelling interactions with our customers

This position includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Daily fermentation monitoring, including gravities, yeast cell counts/viability/vitality, temperature monitoring and adjustment, sensory testing for VDK, acetaldehyde, etc.

  • Daily packaging quality analysis, including dissolved gases tracking, TPO, fill level analysis

  • Sensory analysis on all brands at different production stages

  • Daily microbiology testing including sample collection, cell culture, filter plating, PCR

  • Coordination of sample collection and analysis for all testing methods, both for routine analysis as well as for troubleshooting/projects. Take appropriate action based on data collected.

  • Analytical chemistry routine testing and method development, including ABV/SRM/IBU analysis

  • Yeast collection and management

  • Examination of keg shells and spears as part of a monitoring program

  • Regular, standardized reporting of data to relevant departments to drive improvements

  • Maintain calibration and proper operation of lab equipment, ensure accuracy of and help develop SOPs

  • Independently initiate and manage projects to improve quality/consistency and brewery processes

  • Effectively work with other departments to identify and implement quality improvement efforts

  • Help identify, troubleshoot, and document real-time quality issues in a fast-paced environment

The ideal candidate for this position would possess:

  • College degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science) or Engineering. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Working brewing knowledge and/or certification from an accredited institution (IBD, UC Davis, etc.)

  • QA/QC laboratory experience in an applicable field

  • The ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team

  • Is self-motivated and thrives in a fast-paced environment

  • Extremely strong project management skills with a propensity for enacting positive change

JOB DESCRIPTION

The cashier's role is to ensure that each and every customer is served in a friendly, professional, and timely manner. This includes greeting customers as they approach the food counter, processing customer orders through the POS system, and notifying the kitchen staff of any special requests. This person will process customer transactions, resolve customer issues, and maintain his/her work area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet all customers in a friendly and welcoming manner.
  • Record customer orders into the POS System, ensuring each and every request is fully and accurately entered.
  • Inform kitchen staff, through the POS System or verbal communication, of customer special requests/adjustments.
  • Identify customer issues/complaints and take necessary steps to correct them.
  • Perform returns and special transactions through the POS System.
  • Keep the "register station" stocked with all necessary items.
  • Clean and organize the "The Line" when necessary.
  • Notify management of all customer and POS System issues.
  • Consistently maintain a balanced cash drawer.
  • Perform other related duties as requested. Assist with expediting and food running.
  • Complete daily tasks from side work sheets

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Retail Sales Associate with Funky Buddha Brewery, the candidate will work in the merchandise sales area of our tap room.  The ideal candidate should be passionate about craft beer, be organized and efficient, and have excellent customer service skills.  Additional responsibilities include:

  • Provide excellent customer service to both walk-in and telephone guests
  • Acting as a source for brewery knowledge for our customers and as a first point of contact for guests visiting our tap room
  • Possess the ability to to work with several guests at one time, while maintaining individual customer satisfaction
  • Inform guests of any sales, specials or new merchandise offered and assist them with their selections
  • Keeping merchandise area and drink cooler displays clean, organized, stocked and visually appealing
  • Use POS to accept cash and credit card payments and keep the cash register totals accurate
  • Assist with monthly inventory process
  • Reduce loss by maintaining a watchful eye on the merchandise and processing accurate transactions
  • Facilitate and help organize brewery tours, as well as set-up and staging of special events

JOB REQUIREMENTS

A lead brewer is responsible for leading and participating in all aspects of the brewing process including brewing, fermentation, cellaring, and finishing, as well as assisting with administrative and organizational duties.   • Operating brewhouse and producing batches from start to finish
  • Assisting in organizing brewhouse operational schedule and projects
  • Ensuring continuity of the brewhouse operations, and coordinating them with other aspects of operations
  • Ensuring the maintenance and organization of all brewing related notes from brew day through fermentation, finishing, and packaging, and ensuring that these logs are maintained properly by brewing personnel.
  • Maintaining clean brewing practices in the brewhouse and cellar; organizing cleaning schedules and projects, and making sure they are followed
  • Following SOP (standard operating procedure) in each phase of brewing, fermentation, and packaging, and ensuring that others follow these procedures as well
  • Executing and organizing preventative maintenance on all brewhouse and cellar equipment, include detailed maintenance logs for all equipment
  • Informing and assisting Maintenance Staff in troubleshooting and fixing items as they come up, and following through to make sure the items are addressed
  • Assisting in the design, implementation and maintenance of safety programs throughout the brewery, and leading others to follow the safety guidelines through coaching and good example
  • Monitoring raw material inventory; weekly brewing ingredient and consumables inventory
  • Daily updating of the Chillertron (glycol control) and Ekos (brewery management software) systems
  • Training of new brewhouse employees; assist in cellar training
  • Spearheading projects related to brewing operations; planning, organization, execution and completion.
  • Must always be finding new ways to improve consistency, organization, cleanliness, and efficiency, and be able to report these strategies, implement and maintain them
  • Must always be a champion for following the rules and policies of the brewery, and must encourage this to others, both by example and vigilance
  • Assisting in the development of new recipes and improvement of existing recipes
  • Plan and brew pilot batches as needed
  • Assisting in any other areas or departments where extra help is needed

REQUIREMENTS

  • Three years experience in a commercial production brewery or high-volume brew pub
  • A strong passion for brewing modern American beers as well as the desire to push the boundaries of experimental brewing
  • Strong organizational habits, a self-motivated work ethic, and good critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • An advanced understanding of all aspects of brewing including cellaring, yeast handling, CIP, and sanitization
  • Flexibility in terms of hours and a willingness to work night shifts, weekends, and overtime
  • Computer literate with an understanding of Microsoft Office/spreadsheet programs
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Must have the schedule availability to work long and/or odd hours as needed to complete tasks and maintain the brewing operations.

  • Stocking ice for all the wells
  • Bringing out clean glassware
  • Stocking cases of beer in the merchandise cooler

Street Teamers are tasked with helping to set-up, execute and break down beer samplings, activations, and festivals. JOB DESCRIPTION

The Maintenance Technician ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance, installation and repair requirements on facility and production equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain standard facility equipment and systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks and complete corresponding daily reports
  • Follow and maintain OSHA and company safety policies on all maintenance work and projects
  • Maintain lighting, plumbing, roofing, and restaurant, and brewing industrial equipment
  • Collaborate with all departments to provide repairs and improvements to new/existing equipment
  • Diagnosis equipment failures and make necessary repairs while minimizing production down time through effective troubleshooting and communication with operations team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years Maintenance Mechanic experience including but not limited to; HVAC, glycol, mechanical, heavy equipment operations, electrical,draft systems, plumbing, as well as construction, and remodeling of facilities including drywall and carpentry
  • Strong oral/written communication skills
  • Basic Welding Skills-TIG & MIG
  • Ability to use standard powered and non-powered tools
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately assess mechanical and electrical problems, make recommendations
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including occasional overtime and/or nights, weekends, and holidays

A cellar operator is responsible for all aspects of processes related to fermentation, conditioning, treatment, clarification, carbonation, and any other processes required to achieve a final product ready for packaging.   • Assistance with yeast handling and management
  • Cellaring duties including fermentation management

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Busser with Funky Buddha Brewery, the candidate will work in the customer area of our tap room. Successful candidates will be a vital part of our busy tap room and contribute to high levels of customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning Tables - Busser will spend most of their shift cleaning tables. This involves waiting for those at the table to finish eating, then clearing all of the dirty plates, glasses and silverware. The busser then wipes down and sanitizes the table, as well as sweeps the floor and chairs to clean up any food spills. The busser must also circulate the tap room and help table maintenance during the guest dining experience.
  • Garbage Duty - Busser must empty all of the filled trash cans and replace the used bags. They must bring filled bags to a dumpster. Empty boxes should be broken down and brought to the box compactor.
  • Spills - Spills in the tap room should be mopped right away and have a wet floor sign out for display to notify guests.
  • Customer Service - When the tap room is very busy, bussers must often help inform guests of how our operation works.This requires that bussers are prompt and friendly, so having good communication skills is a must for the job.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Server with Funky Buddha Brewery, the candidate will work in the bar and guest areas of our tap room. Successful candidates will be a vital part of our brewery and will contribute to high levels of customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include:

  • Serve Funky Buddha Brewery’s craft beers in the tasting room. Be able to answer questions and make recommendations regarding our beer selection.
  • Fill and sell growler orders.
  • Sell Funky Buddha Brewery’s merchandise.
  • Be knowledgeable about Funky Buddha Brewery’s beer and brewing process to share with customers. Also, be able to discuss the elements of craft beer to patrons.
  • Be willing to be trained on the art and science of craft brewing and craft beers.
  • Record drink orders accurately and immediately into the Point of Sale system.
  • Accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change, if applicable.
  • Clean bar area and glassware. Wash and sterilize glassware.
  • Clear and reset tables and clean bathrooms in tap room.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas.
  • Assist the restocking and replenishment of inventory and supplies.
  • Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to manager.
  • Be familiar with Funky Buddha Brewery’s promotions and sales and assist with special events.
  • Complete opening and closing duties under the direction of managers.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing manner.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Possess a valid, State of Florida approved, server training certification and/or be willing to successfully complete training provided by Funky Buddha Brewery.
  • Strong knowledge of restaurant/tap room operations and service procedures.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Possess basic math skills, possess the ability to handle money and operate a cash register and POS system.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 30 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Punctual and regular, reliable attendance.
  • Honesty and Integrity.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge. Experience with an iPad is a plus.
  • Ability to work quickly, problem solve and think on your feet while maintaining poise in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive, infectious attitude and sense of humor. Personable, kind, and customer service oriented.
  • Passion for the service industry, desire to be part of a team and work hard, high level of self-awareness and long-term view of success.
  • Well-versed in: beer history; brewing techniques; preparation techniques, styles, flavor profiles or possess a willingness to learn.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.

Line Cook, AM/PM Shifts

Funky Buddha Brewery is seeking full time and part time professional line cooks to prepare food to exact specifications and to set up stations for menu. Successful candidates will be a vital part to our busy kitchen and contribute to high levels of customer satisfaction.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, preparing sauces)
  • Cook to order menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
  • Answer, report, and follow supervisor’s instructions
  • Clean up station and take care any unwrapped product
  • Stock, date, and label inventory appropriately
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality, and timely
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven cooking experience
  • Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
