Intern - HR/Admin

Are you a current student with a hunger for learning and a thirst for craft beer?  Do you need an internship credit in order to graduate?  Then a Funky Buddha Brewery internship might be the right fit for you!

We currently have an opening for a Full-Time Intern to work in both our Human Resources and Admin departments.  If you've ever wanted to see what it's like to run a brewery from the inside, then this is the perfect opportunity - you'll get to split your time between HR and working with the owners of the company. As our HR/Admin intern, you'll be increasing your knowledge and experience with running an HR department as well as working each week with the guys who founded Funky Buddha Brewery (and created Maple Bacon Coffee Porter!), all while earning internship credit towards your degree.

Interested candidates must be a current student receiving internship credit on a Business Administration or Human Resources track in their degree program, as the majority of time will be spent in the HR Department (assisting with recruiting, training, admin work, and special projects).  Previous experience and/or a desire to grow within the field of Human Resources is a major plus.  Our internships are paid FT positions for the duration of your school semester and credit will be given.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The cashier's role is to ensure that each and every customer is served in a friendly, professional, and timely manner. This includes greeting customers as they approach the food counter, processing customer orders through the POS system, and notifying the kitchen staff of any special requests. This person will process customer transactions, resolve customer issues, and maintain his/her work area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet all customers in a friendly and welcoming manner.
  • Record customer orders into the POS System, ensuring each and every request is fully and accurately entered.
  • Inform kitchen staff, through the POS System or verbal communication, of customer special requests/adjustments.
  • Identify customer issues/complaints and take necessary steps to correct them.
  • Perform returns and special transactions through the POS System.
  • Keep the "register station" stocked with all necessary items.
  • Clean and organize the "The Line" when necessary.
  • Notify management of all customer and POS System issues.
  • Consistently maintain a balanced cash drawer.
  • Perform other related duties as requested. Assist with expediting and food running.
  • Complete daily tasks from side work sheets

Responsibilities:

As North Florida Account Manager for Funky Buddha Brewery, the candidate will directly be responsible for all aspects of the sales territory including seeking and closing new accounts, retaining and growing current business, marketing to accounts, training and education, and working with our distributor to execute and manage our positions in the market. Territory is defined as reaching from Pensacola to Jacksonville, south to Ocala. Job duties include:

  • Achieving sales and marketing goals set on a monthly basis

  • Acquiring new distribution for Funky Buddha product in retail accounts

  • Organizing, promoting and executing promotional events at accounts and in the market including beer dinners, tap takeovers, festivals, tasting events, and samplings

  • Increasing rate of sale through brand visibility, staff trainings, and education

  • Maintaining weekly reports and detailed, digital notes using internal CRM software

  • Manage relationships at key accounts while identifying and targeting growth accounts

  • Managing and developing distributor relationships, including executing work withs, communicating and driving sales performance initiatives, and execution of business plan

  • Working with Sales Manager to manage inventory in market, maintaining minimum days on hand, healthy turn rate, and depleting all seasonal and limited brands according to plan

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess a passion for our beer, strong sales skills, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to grow and maintain relationships. Being a highly self-motivated individual with a strong sense of personal responsibility is crucial to this role.

Additional requirements include:

  • 21 years of age

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Packaging and Production Manager will be responsible for managing the day to day operation of production and distribution warehouse facilities to ensure metrics are maintained or exceeded to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.   This position will collaborate with Head Brewer, General Manager, Brewery Operations Manager and Brand Director to ensure our product meets market demand and scheduling timetables.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage daily packaging operations.
  • Running all equipment on an automated bottling line and manage operation of the manual (and future automated) kegging system.
  • Solicit, hire, train, schedule, and manage packaging, warehouse and maintenance personnel
  • Develop, execute, and hold staff accountable to Standard Operating Procedures for their respective departments
  • Communicate with brewmaster, head brewer and inventory manager about managing labor needs in other operations.
  • Schedule and manage preventive maintenance in conjunction with operations.
  • Ensure a clean and sanitary work environment
  • Ensure all process documents are complete. Must be computer literate and be able to function in SAP/Excel/Ekos environments.
  • Ensure compliance with SOP’s and update as needed
  • Manage all warehouse activities ensuring operational goals are achieved by determined deadlines.
  • Effectively manage packaging and warehouse employees, focusing on retention and skill development.
  • Promote a “Zero Harm” work environment through adherence to OSHA, DOT HAZMAT and HACCP regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Manage site inventory control processes; ensuring compliance with internal SOPs and best practices.
  • Process orders accurately and in a timely manner according to SOPs and customer requirements.
  • Oversee daily production schedule in accordance with customer order demand and safety stock levels.
  • Facilitate and/or conduct all required employee training; including forklift and safety certification programs.
  • Assist in the development of budgets and ongoing review of trends & variances.
  • Completion of special projects as assigned by management.
  • Facilitate and/or conduct site tours for management, employees and customers.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Direct packaging management experience, including demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and mentor employees
  • Experience running all equipment on a bottling line and managing the operation of a kegging system

  • Demonstrated ability to manage production and distribution warehouse facilities
  • Exposure to high speed bagging lines or similar machinery
  • Material Handling experience
  • Warehouse Management System and/or Inventory Control software experience is preferred (Ekos preferred)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our Inventory Control Specialist will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory controls and keeping detailed documentation and records of all production, raw materials, beer inventory movement and outgoing inventory. This role requires a meticulous eye for detail, quick thinking, and exceptional problem solving skills. This person must have the ability to stay on-task with multiple demands and priorities at once.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the management of all beer movement inside the brewery and outgoing
  • Work with current inventory system to maintain up-to-the-minute accuracy with inventory levels 
  • Development of inventory practices and standard operating procedures that benefit inventory accuracy
  • Work with production manager to ensure inventory availability for all outbound shipments
  • Logging all production in brewery management software
  • Research inventory discrepancies and resolve them with satisfactory outcomes
  • Assisting with monthly brewery production reports as they pertain to Federal and state level taxes
  • Procure freight and other services for the brewery, securing best available rates while staying within shipment requirements 
  • Order all raw materials and maintaining necessary quantities on-hand based on production schedule
  • Demonstrate smart ordering practices, demonstrating fiscal responsibility with considerations such as freight and quantity discounts
  • Responsible for receiving shipments, including product and keg returns, raw ingredient shipments, and any other large shipments received
  • Responsible for leading a growing team of warehouse associates

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum three years' experience with inventory management and/or inventory management software
  • Computer literate with a deep working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Excel 
  • Experience with EKOS brewery management software preferred
  • Previous experience leading a team of employees
  • Prior experience operating a forklift and/or OSHA forklift certification
  • Exceptional communication skills and unimpeachable character
  • Ability to multi task effectively with limited supervision

JOB DESCRIPTION

This is an immediate full-time, hourly position as Assistant Tap Room Manager at Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park. This position will work with the Tap Room General Manager and other assistant managers to properly organize, manage, and execute tap room operations. This employee must be a hard-working, responsible, and positive individual with a desire to continue learning and growing within the company and the craft beer industry as a whole.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shift oversight of all tap room staff including bar staff, servers, bar backs, and merchandisers

  • Utilizing in-house POS to properly register sales, open and close the tap room, and determine tip outs

  • Working with tap room management to increase efficiency and reduce loss

  • Continually improving customer service and the customer experience within the tap room

  • Working with tap room management to assist in hiring, training, and scheduling tap room staff

  • Continuous maintenance of the tap room and its fixtures

  • Execution of special events, reservations, functions, and parties

REQUIREMENTS

A cellar operator is responsible for all aspects of processes related to fermentation, conditioning, treatment, clarification, carbonation, and any other processes required to achieve a final product ready for packaging.   • Assistance with yeast handling and management
  • Cellaring duties including fermentation management
  • Operation of centrifuge for beer clarification

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Busser with Funky Buddha Brewery, the candidate will work in the customer area of our tap room. Successful candidates will be a vital part of our busy tap room and contribute to high levels of customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning Tables - Busser will spend most of their shift cleaning tables. This involves waiting for those at the table to finish eating, then clearing all of the dirty plates, glasses and silverware. The busser then wipes down and sanitizes the table, as well as sweeps the floor and chairs to clean up any food spills. The busser must also circulate the tap room and help table maintenance during the guest dining experience.
  • Garbage Duty - Busser must empty all of the filled trash cans and replace the used bags. They must bring filled bags to a dumpster. Empty boxes should be broken down and brought to the box compactor.
  • Spills - Spills in the tap room should be mopped right away and have a wet floor sign out for display to notify guests.
  • Customer Service - When the tap room is very busy, bussers must often help inform guests of how our operation works.This requires that bussers are prompt and friendly, so having good communication skills is a must for the job.

Tour Guide

Funky Buddha Brewery, located in Oakland Park, Florida, is seeking a part-time Tour Guide to join its growing team. Established in 2010 at its Boca Raton brewpub, Funky Buddha is known for pushing the boundaries of traditional brewing methods with culinary-inspired recipes utilizing all-natural, food-centric ingredients. Some of its best-known beers include flagships Hop Gun IPA and Floridian Hefeweizen, Maple Bacon Coffee Porter, No Crusts Peanut Butter and Jelly Brown Ale, and Last Snow Coffee Porter.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Do you love talking to people about the joys of craft beer? Do you pine over unique styles and seek to share your beer findings with others? Do you have an energetic, charismatic, and outgoing personality? If you answered yes to all of these questions, you might be our next tour guide at Funky Buddha Brewery!

We are seeking an immediate, part-time position as a tour guide here at the brewery. Tour guides conduct public and private tours of the brewery facility and spread the love of the Buddha to our thirsty visitors in the tap room. The ideal candidate will have an outgoing, charismatic personality with a deep desire to share the love that is craft beer. Knowledge of craft beer styles, history, and brewing techniques are a plus - but a deep desire to continue learning about brewing and the beer business is required. Must be able to speak comfortably to groups of 25 or more people and remain passionate, courteous, and friendly throughout. This job will require night and weekend hours, approximately 20-25 hours/week.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • 21+ years of age
  • A strong passion for craft beers as well as a knowledge of the brewing process, beer styles, beer presentation, and rudimentary beer dispense
  • Public speaking experience with outgoing and sociable personality
  • Natural leadership, integrity, loyalty, and exceptional personal character
  • Excellent customer service skills, good communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team
  • Possess the ability to to work with several guests at one time, while maintaining individual customer satisfaction
  • Strong organizational habits, a self-motivated work ethic, and good critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds; occasionally lift/carry up to 50 lbs
  • Able to be trained in using draft tools and equipment
  • Maintain high standards of safety
  • Open availability to work nights and weekends
